At International®, our customers' best interests always come first. So
when EPA emissions regulations tighten, it shouldn't be up to our customers
to comply. It should be up to us. That's why we introduced MaxxForce®
Advanced EGR technology as our 2010 emissions solution. It doesn't require
drivers to install and maintain extra equipment. Or worry about where to
find exotic fluids like urea. They just have to put the hammer down and head
for their next destination. MaxxForce® Advanced EGR is one more way we put
our customers Miles Ahead.
THE EPA GETS TOUGH. SO WE GIVE YOU AN EASY CHOICE
Next year, the EPA requires diesel exhaust emissions to be reduced by
98%. Great for the environment. But it caught other engine manufacturers off
guard. They fell back on a technology called SCR that requires adding heavy
after-treatment equipment which utilizes a hard-to-find fluid called urea.
Taking the opposite approach, International® perfected its proprietary
Advanced EGR system that requires no additional equipment, maintenance or
driver training. For 2010, there's only one choice that makes sense:
MaxxForce® Advanced EGR.
HOW ADVANCED EGR TAKES THE BURDEN OFF YOU
MaxxForce® Advanced EGR reduces emissions inside the engine itself. It
simply recirculates part of an engine’s exhaust back to the cylinders,
slowing and cooling the combustion process and burning off pollutants.
International's Advanced EGR requires a combination of increased injection
pressure, improved exhaust flow and refined calibrations but the result is
greatly reduced emissions without any extra effort on your part.
The Maxxforce® 7 is built strong with a V8 turbodiesel, incorporating
advanced design elements and components from Navistar's market-leading 16
commercial engines. These include a high-pressure common-rail fuel system,
dual-stage turbochargers and compacted graphite iron block. Together
with our 30 years of V8 leadership, these features deliver a better
performing engine with outstanding power, performance, reliability and fuel
economy.
EPA compliant with MaxxForce Advanced EGR, the only no-hassle
emissions solution for 2010 standards
Best in class horsepower and torque
The quietest V8 diesel engine in North America, registering only
68.9 dBA in a low idle test.
13% more fuel-efficient than previous models
A DC-actuated turbocharger provides impressive acceleration, grade
climbing, towing capability and high-altitude performance
For city routes, double-digit percentage fuel economy improvement is
possible when the transmission and drivelines are optimized
The MaxxForce® DT is purpose-built to the needs of International
customers. It offers a full range of automatic and manual driveline options
and thousands of potential build configurations to serve the broadest range
of on-highway applications. Eight different model ratings offer 215-300 hp
and 560-860 lb.-ft if torque. Shift energy management technology allows for
higher peak torque when used with select transmissions.
EPA compliant with MaxxForece Advanced EGR, the only no-hassle
emissions solution for 2010 standards
Electro-hydraulic Generation Two fuel system makes it 9% more
fuel-efficient than previous models
Premium plateau-honed wet-sleeve design provides heavy-duty
durability characteristics of big bore engines, plus easy rebuildability
Mechanical roller followers allow 70,000 more miles before lash
adjustment than the competition
Four valves per cylinder provide better breathing, performance and
lower emissions Named by Diesel Power magazine one of the "Top 10 Diesel
Engines-Ever."
With a full range of automatic and manual driveline options and thousands
of potential build configurations, MaxxForce® 9 is made to serve the
broadest range of on-highway applications. Navistar engineers have
carried forward the proven technologies and components of a time-tested
platform like premium plateau-honed cylinder design, reinforced bearing-cap
ladder and rugged single-box ECM.
EPA compliant with MaxxForce Advanced EGR, the only no-hassle
emissions solution for 2010 standards
Premium plateau-honed wet-sleeve design provides heavy-duty
durability characteristics of big bore engines
A new regulated two-stage turbocharger and upgraded cooling system
provide outstanding boost and response for every application
The electro-hydraulic high-pressure fuel system features new
high-efficiency injector nozzles and advanced electronic control
strategies for fuel economy gains
Increased 9.3-liter displacement by longer stroke, meet the
requirements of more demanding applications
MaxxForce® 10 engines are purpose-built to the needs of International
customers. They offer a full range of automatic and manual driveline
options and thousands of potential build configurations to serve the
broadest range of on-highway applications. Three MaxxForce® 10 models offer
310-350 hp and 1,1050-1,1150 lb.-ft of torque, providing the power of some
big bore engines at 800 lbs. lighter weight. Shift energy management
technology allows for higher peak torque when used with select
transmissions.

To succeed in a competitive business, you need an engine and an
organization behind it that are always performing and working for you.
Navistar's MaxxForce® Big Bore engines have revolutionized how the world
looks at Class 8 commercial diesels. Designed specifically for
International® brand heavy vehicles, with a combination of technologically
advanced materials and components, these engines deliver outstanding fuel
economy, excellent power characteristics, and exceptionally smooth and quiet
ride, and high strength without added weight.
EPA compliant with MaxxForce Advanced EGR, the only no-hassle
emissions solution for 2010 standards
A Compacted Graphite Iron cylinder block is 40% stiffer with 75%
higher tensile strength, and 200% greater fatigue resistance than iron
used in other Class 8 diesel engines
Low vibration levels prolong the life of the engine by protecting it
from ordinary wear and tear
Fuel system combined with twin series turbo chargers, delivers peak
torque at a lower RPM, which allows for earlier upshifts when
accelerating and fewer downshifts when climbing hills
Internal testing has shown a 2.4% fuel efficiency advantage over the
leading 15L engine
Over 500 lbs lighter than the nearest 15L engine with similar power
output
Peak torque is achieved at 1000 RPM (just over idle) and sustains at
higher RPMs for a more responsive off-the-line driving experience
